I'm a professional programmer, who has always enjoyed using free and open source software. I'm also the chief architect of this guide, as I felt that there was already too much software in the world, and not enough information on how to use it. More importantly, there are many other professionals in other fields, who could benefit from the programs that I use regularly – if only they had the time to learn to use them.
